Heather Finn Knitwear’s website redesign

Artist-makers Online is a service for Irish creatives to improve their web-presence and to sell and promote their work. We offer web-design, courses and consultancy in all aspects of developing your profile online!

Artist-makers Online was set up by Niall Flaherty, who is an artist and teacher,  currently a lecturer in UCD School of Library and Information Services teaching Information Design and Creating & Publishing Digital Media, he has also lectured for NCAD and DIT in drawing, photography, video, new-media and sculpture.  Niall is a founder member of Blackletter Artists Group. He has developed web-design and online promotion courses for the  NCAD, DIT, Visual Artists Ireland, National Sculpture Factory, and Clare and Offaly County Councils.

Some client testimonials:

Gaynor Seville
Public Art Manager at Mayo County Council

Niall gave a presentation for visual artists at a Mayo Artists Network event. The presentation was focused on how to develop websites for artists, from the basics of how to obtain a domain name and get started, to visual presentation, content, ease of use, both for the artist and the eventual user/audience. Niall pitched the presentation well to a diverse group with wide ranging experience, some with no experience at all of setting up a website, some highly experienced seeking to improve and develop existing sites. The presentation was clear, informative and well prepared. Niall has a calm, approachable manner and has expert knowledge in this area. His presentation was followed up with individual one to one advice sessions with artists. The feedback has been very positive with artists finding Niall’s advice extremely useful and appropriate to their needs. I hope to have the opportunity to work with Niall again in the future.

Monica Flynn
Visual Artist Ireland

“Niall tendered for and designed a Web Design Training Course for Visual Artists Ireland and Clare County Council Arts Office. The programme was concisely put together, well tailored for the needs and skills level of the group of artists concerned and almost all participants finished the programme with a working personalised website. The response to the programme and the results were so good we asked Niall to deliver the programme again.

Niall was superb at adapting technical information surrounding web design and hosting, in a way that made it easily understandable. He is a pleasure to work with, flexible and attentive to learning needs of fellow artists. The programme was also valued appropriately to the arts sector, good value for the time invested.”

Monica hired Niall as a Graphic/Web Designer in 2010 and hired him more than once.

“Niall was recommended by a colleague and was contracted to redevelop and streamline our company website. He provided a consistent and coherent website redesign which prioritised appearance, usability and content. Niall’s work was organized and well thought out. He saw potential complications ahead of time, allowing him to find solutions to problems before they arose.

Niall was always quick to reply to any queries and to deal with them in a timely manner. In his work I have found Niall to not only be extremely efficient, but also very creative. I highly recommend Niall Flaherty and I look forward to opportunities to work with him in the future.”

Jacinta Lynch
Broadstone Gallery and Studios

“Niall provides an excellent web design service and great results whilst understanding the needs of visual artists. His recent development of Artist-Makers Online offers an easily accessible and affordable web design package for everyone including artists.

His service delivers fast and responsive technical support, a clear understanding of the design brief and excellent control over the content management for the site owner. Having worked with Niall on a number of different projects, I have found him to be not only trustworthy, consistent and reliable, but also a pleasure to work with, particularly in his ability to communicate complex technical information in every day language, coupled with excellent suggestions for future development options, and all at a very reasonable cost.

I can highly recommend Niall to anyone tired of the overly expensive, mumbo jumpo approach to web design, that’s looking to develop their web site specific to their needs and budgets.”

  • The Printmakers Gallery

I recently designed a website for The Printmakers Gallery, on Drury St, Dublin. It’s a responsive website, built on WordPress. The menu slides off to the left and the content resizes when it detects a smaller screen, like on a tablet or smart phone. Check out the site here: The Printmakers Gallery.
